About
Each year, BASF’s Coatings division publishes the Global Trend Book — an exclusive insight into future color trends across Europe, North America, and Asia-Pacific, created for design leads in the automotive industry. But the Trend Book is more than just a color catalogue: through visual essays and written reflections, it explores the social shifts, global currents, and emerging narratives that inform BASF’s forward-thinking color developments.
For the 2016 edition, titled PARALLAX, we developed the visual concept, designed the entire publication up to print production, and conceived and produced much of the photography.
Referencing the parallax effect, the book plays with visual dualities — through image pairings, contrasting patterns, and shifting layers. A holographic foil on the slipcase adds a tactile dimension, changing appearance with the light and creating unexpected moments of depth and movement.
