Each year, BASF Coatings publishes the Global Trend Book — an exclusive look into upcoming color trends for the automotive industry across Europe, North America, and Asia-Pacific. But this is more than just a color catalogue: through visual and written essays, the publication explores the social and cultural shifts that shape global aesthetics and inspire the development of new coatings.

For the 2014 edition, titled RAW (Real Authentic Ways), we developed the visual concept, designed the entire publication through to print, and conceived and produced all photographic content.

RAW places emphasis on authenticity and purity — a search for the genuine and unrefined that runs through the entire color collection. Our design draws clear connections to materiality and surface, making emerging trends tangible in their earliest stages.
